About Melinda’s Psychology Qualifications and Experience:
I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and I’m a registered psychologist with over 6 years experience, delivering effective treatment and counselling.
My experience ranges across non-government organisation, private practice, community mental health, psychiatric hospital and university settings.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches in my work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. I adapt treatment to your personal preference and to what will be most effective in helping you reach your mental health goals.
What’s involved in the psychology sessions:
Experience feeling truly heard, valued and understood with compassion and be affirmed in and live in alignment with your strengths and values. Be treated as a person of worth and not someone with a problem to be fixed.
Learn evidence-based techniques to manage anxiety and stress, so you can create relief, freedom and ongoing peace of mind
Receive individualised support and powerful strategies that work quickly, so you feel equipped and empowered to face your fears and overcome them.
How can psychology sessions help me?
I can also help you:
Understand and manage your emotions
Notice your thinking patterns and how they affect your behavior
Develop and achieve personal and professional goals
Build positive and healthy relationships
Achieve emotional wellbeing and life balance
Alter your patterns of thinking and behaviour to create a powerful mindset and habits
As you make an intentional choice for change and take small steps, you will see progress occur.
If you would like to move into a place of release and freedom, I would love to work with you. I’ll help you reduce stress and anxiety so you can perform at your best.

FAQs
Do I need a referral to access Psychology sessions?
No. Many people decide themselves that they would benefit from seeing a Psychologist. They self-refer and pay independently.
You may however be eligible for a Private Health Fund or Medicare rebate for your session. If you want to access the Medicare rebate, you will need a referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, before counselling commences.
Are sessions in person or via telehealth?
You can choose if you would like your sessions to be in person or via telehealth (phone or video consultation).
The platform used for telehealth consultations is HIPPA compliant and follows security and encryption protocols to ensure client privacy is maintained.
Can I claim some of the session fees back?
Private Health Funds:
Some Private Health Funds offer rebates for psychology sessions. The benefit payable varies according to your health fund level of cover. You need to contact your provider directly to check your eligibility.
Medicare:
To be eligible for the Medicare rebate you need a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP. Not all concerns are covered under the scheme so you will need to discuss suitability with your GP. You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $87.45, for a maximum of 20 sessions per calendar year. After 6 sessions you will need to go back to your GP for a review in order to access additional sessions.
